Parliament of Sri Lanka

The Parliament of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka (Sinhala: ශ්‍රී ලංකා පාර්ලිමේන්තුව Shri Lanka Parlimenthuwa, Tamil: இலங்கை நாடாளுமன்றம் Ilaṅkai nāṭāḷumaṉṟam) is the supreme legislative body of Sri Lanka. It alone possesses legislative supremacy and thereby ultimate power over all other political bodies in the island. It is modeled after the British Parliament.

It consists of 225 members known as Members of Parliament (MPs). Members are elected by proportional representation for five-year terms, with universal suffrage.

The President of Sri Lanka has the power to summon, suspend, prorogue, or terminate a legislative session and to dissolve the Parliament. President can dissolve Parliament only after the lapse of 2+1⁄2 years or if 2⁄3 majority of Members of Parliament requests him. The actions of the president to either suspend or dissolve the Parliament is subject to legal scrutiny of the Supreme Court of Sri Lanka. The Speaker or, in his absence, the Deputy Speaker and Chairman of Committees or the Deputy Chairman of Committees, presides over Parliament.

Present Parliament President is having only one seat, that is he is (UNP)

and real fact is in the SLPP 100 seats, majority are from SLFP. Only about 5-10 are going to be separated from SLFP. This TNA 10 seats are directly funded by the Indian Government. There are 45 independent members but all of them get along with the SLFP  when its come to an election.

At a glance we can see the opposition is bigger than the government. but real fact is when its come to any Parliament Act, the independent 45 seats and the TNA 10 seats work along with the government. In other words, to get their votes within the Parliament, the Government should always agree with the terms of those members. Hence this is why we can see the SLPP and UNP always in the hunt to bribe the opposition to get agree with any Parliament Act. Best example would be the electing of Ranil Wickramasinghe as the president. Having only one single seat (UNP) from Parliament, Ranil Wickramasinghe was capable of achieving 132 Votes on his favour inside the Parliament, with nothing but bribery and promises.

Attitude of the Public towards Politicians

Sri Lanka has faced many a problems since we won the independence from the British in 1948 and we have seen how the Government has failed the Public time to time. However the level of disappointment, anger and frustration which people hold against the current Government is unprecedented. Never has there been a time the citizens of Sri Lanka were this involved about their needs and rights, strongly vocal and taking action to sweep off the incompetent Politicians. The resentment is so volcanic, that the public literally associate the word "Politician" with the likes of the words such as "Robber", "Stupid" and "Comedian". With the constant Electricity power cuts, transportation fuel Shortages and waiting in queues for hours just so you can take back home a gas cylinder to cook and yet don't know if that bag of rice has increased price again since last night you checked, the Attitude of Public towards the Politicians is nothing but disgust.

Setting Up of a New Party

Initially I plan to begin a non-alignment movement, with a very door open policy, so that people from all paths and directions of political backgrounds can freely join in, to see what it is, without necessarily having to break off from where they would be at the time, leaving less burden on them and encouraging many more people to join with us. Gradually the non-alignment movement will be converted as the official Political Party from which I will express my interest  to become the President of Sri Lanka.

Cooperation with other Parties

The Movement/Party should maintained a very balanced and friendly relationship with all other minor Political Parties. As I am already the Ambassador to China for the SLFP (The Blue-themed Political Party which has been in power for the longest in history of Sri Lanka Politics). At this moment the majority of Parliament is represented by the SLPP and Independent members, who again primarily are members of the SLFP.  It is with these existing strong connections I aim to reach out and make new connections with the other small Parties. Currently the Public views the Government and any and all Parliament Members as traitors of the nation, who have failed to uphold their end of the bargain after coming through the Public's vote. So my objective is to work closely with the Minor Political Parties and gather all the members under one umbrella of New party/Movement, inside the Parliament. This could also be seen as rebranding the SLFP with new faces and concepts, advanced by my leadership and backed by the Chinese Government.

Electing to the Parliament of Sri Lanka in next Election

Officially the next election is due on 2025 . However with respect to current situation, the public and many Parliament members urge to proceed for an immediate National Election. My assumption is that it will take at least another six months for another election to be organized, if they decide on it. The date of new election is declared by the President . For that he has to dissolve the Parliament and announce a date for the Election. As of now we can see the President is trying his level best to avoid it but the public pressure to have the election is still very strong. I am intending to to complete as a SLFP headed Alliance candidate from Colombo District, "Maharagama" in the upcoming election. The objective is to enter the Parliament and demand for a important Ministry as a Minister, following a platform ideal for me to perform well and build a strong relationship with China and other countries.  Through out this process, I will continue to keep the people around me in check, growing a relaible and resourceful team, bearing the target of next parliament election in mind.

Getting elected to Parliament for the second time and becoming Foreign Minister/Prime Minister

Provided the next election is in 2023 March, subsequently the 2nd election for Parliament will come up after 5 years, either in year 2028. By this stage, I need to make sure I am firmly established within the parliament myself, along with my team to to elect in to the Parliament again, with the majority of votes, at least a 113 seats, consisting with 10 parliament members who are close supporters of mine and Pro China. I need to achieve the highest number of votes from public and in order to become the Prime Minister or if not the Foreign Minister.

Becoming President

Taking a look at the present scenario, the current President can stay in office till 2025.  In the next Parliament Election I need some one who is within my control to be the President of Sri Lanka and then appoint myself in as the Prime Minister, which wil follow through to make me a very promising candidate for the Presidential Elections to be held on 2030.As a candidate, winning the support from members from both main parties and other notable minor parties will be crucial, in order to get the votes to win the election. I assume in this phase my biggest competition will most probably be SJB Leader, Sajith Premadasa, who has been a known face in parliament for long time overshadowed by Ranil Wickramasinghe, with very little number of people having faith on him right now.

Upcoming Parliament Election Plan

I am planing to setup a young, energetic and educated team, to lead with wiser, intellectual and intelligent people. Team structure as follows:

To-Do List

Following are a list of things to accomplish as part of the upcoming election plan:

Team structure for Election Campaign

Following structure should be filled with suitable people who are going to undertake the next parliament election campaign:

Political Campaign Budget [Period: 6 Months]

Following Budget is to setup and run a campaign for six months with our own team with the objective of achieving the target of entry to Parliament. Typically, a campaign of six months is not even close to enugh, but considering the present, unstable political scenario combined with the notable connections I have in my hand, together has created a big oppurtunity for me to win from an election. The cardinal factor is that the Public simply refuses to see any of the current faces again after an election, let along vote them in to the Parliament again. This has inevitably created a big vacuum enabling me to enter to Politics and win through an election to get in to the Parliament of Sri Lanka.

The Time Line
